Goolwa

Town hall, Institute, 1860, Cadell Street, Goolwa

The first section of the building was erected in 1860 to serve as the town hall and institute. A wing was added to the right hand side in 1878 to accommodate the council chambers. Offices of the Corporation of Goolwa were accommodated in a further extension in 1907.  In recent times the building serves as the public library and council chambers. The walls are constructed of travertine limestone, quoins and opening surrounds are brick, and the roof is corrugated iron.
