
Technical classes commenced in 1890 in Mathematics, Physics, Botany, Freehand Drawing and Mechanical and Architectural drawing. Subjects offered in 1900 were Drawing for Teachers, Mechanical Drawing, Drawing and Painting, Bookkeeping, Shorthand, Typewriting, English, Arithmetic, Mensuration, German, Civil Service exam preparation, Dressmaking and Music,(vocal, instrumental, and orchestral). Although classes were not administered by the School of Arts after 1910, they continued on the premises until 1924 when the Department built a new building.
