Notes from privately owned copy of the minutes, 13 May 1918-11 October 1965.

13 May 1918: Meeting held in hall.

12 August 1918: It was noted that bodies providing entertainment needed to be registered — motion to inform Banyo school of arts and Banyo tennis club. Ten pounds to be spent on literature.

14 October: Magazines Hoaras’ Dairyman, Pearsons, and the Strand to be discontinued. Those to be continued included Chambers Journal, Nash, Everybodys, Account paid for Benzoline.

10 Feb. 1919: Tea things to be lent to Banyo school of arts.

10 March: Account for Benzoline.

14 April 1919: Cricket Club to play matches in the grounds of the school of arts provided they provide removable screens for windows.

8 Sept. 1919: Secretary to write to Queensland Newspaper Core continuing the Queenslander. Secretary to approach Lands Department  regarding a guarantor for resumption of Government land between the school of arts and railway line for use for show purposes.

9 Feb 1920: Letter from the Commissioner of Taxation drawing attention to the changes in the Entertainment Assessment Act.

9 August 1920: Ten pounds to be spent on new books for library.

8 November 1920: Account for 17/3 for petrol for lighting. Account from Thomson bros and Birch for new books. Payment for erection of polling booths for recent election and liquor referendum.

11 April 1921: Account for Benzine. Purchase of timber to build tables for Euchre Tournaments.

2 May 192:. Euchre party and dance to be held. Library to open Wednesdays 7.30 -8.30 p.m. Committee to buy cups, saucers and plates.

9 Oct. 1924: No intoxicating liquor to be allowed on premises without committee’s approval. Window repairs, stump to be replaced, internal alterations. Part of grounds to be available for lease.

4 Nov 1924: Endowment application to be sent without the auditor’s receipt which could not be found.

13 Jan 1925: Payments: 15/- for piano tuning, benzoline, printing, State Government insurance.

17 Feb 1925: Forms to be loaned to Banyo school of arts for opening of hall. Representatives to attend the opening event. Secretary to purchase hurricane lamp for use in porch. Tenders for painting or staining hall. Timber to be purchased for stage. Department of Public Instruction asked for permission to spend 20 pounds of endowment on painting hall.

9 Sept 1925: Request to be made for remission of water rates as no water laid on to the building. Five pounds of endowment to be spent on books. Plans for Euchre/dance to raise funds. Suggestion of possible tennis court and Pastime Club.

14 October 1925: Permission for Pastime Club to use grounds for 12 months. Cricket to be conducted by club provided there was no obscene language and windows were protected.

16 November 1925: Fee reduced for hire of crockery

5 Dec 1925: Social evening to be held for subscribers and public. Musical items to be interspersed with card games, dancing, competitions. Refreshment provided by ladies.

22 March 1926:Pastime club to be allowed to play football in winter months until 9.30 p.m.

13 August 1926: Euchre and dance to raise funds for installing electricity.

10 September 1926: Request from Girls’ Basketball Club for court to be built on land. Response re lease to Pastime club till Oct 31.

12 Nov. 1926. Grounds to be let to Girls Basketball and Pastime Club.

14 January 1927: Question of license for use of copyrighted music. Request to be made for exemption on grounds of no paid orchestra, turn over of only 45 pounds, only 11 entertainments held.

11 February 1927: Benzine lights to be disposed of.

19 March 1927: Letter from Bowen school of arts re possible committee of combined schools of arts to fight legal affairs. Nudgee would agree to send reps if a meeting organised.

26 August 1927: Correspondence from “Combined schools of arts” requesting co-operation and stating benefits.

14 October 1927: Decision to take an interest in Association of schools of arts only if one was formed to embrace the metropolitan area.

Second Friday May 1927: Downpipes to be repaired. Indoor and outdoor taps to be installed.

16 Nov 1928: Part of property to be leased to Pastime Club for erection of tennis court.

20 March 1929: Four undesirable books to be removed from library: City of Desire, Spanish Love, Jew Suus, Beggars of Life.

16 Jan 1930: Grounds to be leased to Lacrosse Club on Sundays and grazing rights to be granted for the rest of the week, for 12 months.

18 August 1930: Need to sell 72 volumes of Parliamentary Debates. Circular to be distributed to attract new members.

21 Oct 1930: Discussion re formation of Pastime Club.

18 Feb 1931: Department Public Instruction letter enclosing copy of Government. Gazette cancelling rules re payment of endowment. Tenders to be called for renting reserve. Books available on loan for 2/- per week from Thompson and Birch.

Feb 1933: Conference to maximise use of hall to be attended by 2 reps of each local body. Library fee to be changed from 10/- per annum to 5/- joining fee and one penny per book borrowed. Problems with unauthorised grazing and cricket matches in grounds.
