Port Elliot

16 The Strand, Port Elliot, 1880/82

Constructed of stone and brick, this building features an arched entrance and imposing pediment – this first section is now the front of the building. It accommodated a large room , 20 by 28 feet and two smaller rooms used as library, reading and committee rooms. Provision was made for extensions for a hall which was built in 1882. Further extensions have been added over the years to meet the needs of the community which still actively uses the building. The Goolwa library operates a small branch library twice a week.
