Coral Street, Victor Harbor, 1878, Rowland Rees.
This building was constructed in sandstone with a rendered finish to the pediment, decorative cornices, pilasters and quoins. Window and door surrounds are timber, and the roof is corrugated iron.
The tender for the building was let in 1877 to E. Weymouth. Extensions were made in 1882 to accommodate a residence for the librarian. Extensive renovations were done in 1956. When the South Australian government and District Council assumed responsibility for the building in 1981, the Institute library closed, and the public library opened shortly afterwards.
